Yes, acrylic can be polished using various techniques including flame polishing with Aquaflame systems.
The LM135 Model 500 will polish 5mm Acrylic in a single pass.
The LM136 Model 800 will polish 10mm Acrylic in a single pass.
The LM137 Model 1200 will polish 15 mm acrylic in a single pass
Standard machines come with a set of tips in a range of sizes, from fine to large, to suit different material thicknesses.
The model 800 comes with 2 x tips, ranging from LM118, the largest tip that can be used on this machine, down to LM125.
LM118 LM119 LM120 LM121 LM122 LM123 LM124 LM124 LM125
the LM136 model 800 can also be used with a second-man operator kit to allow 2 operators at once to work side by side.

The booster, which is the silver box mounted to the outside of the Aquaflame, allows you can add different liquids to control the flame temperature.
Aquaflame only recommends either:-
MEK - methyl ethyl ketone, which will give you the flame temperature of 1850 degrees. Mainly used in the jewellery or industries that require hotter flames for soldering metals.
Acetone , which gives the flame temperature of 1200 degrees, which is a cooler flame preferred by the wax/foundry or plastics industries.
Although other liquids can be used in the booster, we recommend you proceed with caution as some liquids will be very volatile and cause flashbacks or give off toxic fumes. Alway check the data sheets for any chemicals.
This is the reason we only recommend MEK or Acetone.
When empty, the booster will take 220ml of MEK or Acetone.
When you initially fill the booster and connect it to the Aquaflame machine, you will not see the level of liquid on the booster - this will become visible when the machine is switched on and becomes pressurised.
It is recommended that you check the levels of MEK or Acetone regularly - if you let the level of liquid drop too low, it could potentially cause flashbacks.
It is recommended that when your MEK / Acetone turns a dark yellow or brown colour to empty it out completely. Swill the booster out with warm water to remove any oxidised MEK / Acetone. Then refill with fresh MEK or acetone.
Never use boiling water in your booster to clean it - the tubing for the sight tube is not heat resistant (it is chemical proof)
The by-product of your Aquaflame is water, the booster will fill with a mix of water and chemical - it is advised to replace the MEK / Acetone periodically.
If you use your 250ml beaker to empty the liquid in the booster, the water will be heavier and settle at the bottom of the beaker. You can then see if your liquid needs to be changed.
Yes. If you want to send your machine to us for servicing, it needs to have all the chemicals removed and be boxed in a secure box suitable to protect it from damage by the couriers. The Aquaflame is very heavy and if a flimsy box is used, it can be easily damaged. We do not take any responsibility for damage caused by inadequate packaging.
We have designed boxes for each size of Aquaflame which can be purchased and sent via courier to your work address to help you keep your machine safe.
Aquaflame produces gas from deionised / distilled water and works on the principle of electrolysis. Electricity is passed through an electrolyte solution KOH resulting in the production of hydrogen and oxygen. The gas is then passed through a MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) solution that gives a flame with the optimum working temperature of 1850 C. (3365 F) or Acetone solution which gives the optimum working temperature of 1200c (2192 F) This produces a highly efficient and low-cost high-energy heat source. The only by product other than energy is water. The flame is clean and safe with no toxic effects.

The model 500 comes with 2 x tips in sizes ranging from LM120 the largest tip that can be used on this machine, down to LM125.

All the black EPDM hoses and torch required are supplied with a new machine. If you require two torches you will need to order a "Second Man Operator Kit". LM084
The tubing will need to be replaced after a while and can be purchased from Aquaflame
LM075 - 1m booster to the torch black EPDM
LM075kit - 1m & 1/2m EPDM tubing.
It generates a highly controlled, precise microflame capable of soldering intricate parts without heating the entire piece.
Yes, Aquaflame provides sufficient heat output and precision to effectively solder platinum jewelry.
Aquaflame is widely used for soldering rings, repairing chains, sizing, and targeted localised heating.
The Model 500 - LM135 is used in small repair workshops - it is ideal for chain repairs and small-scale soldering. the differnt tips sizes are easily changed for the different size flame required.
The Model 800 - is the most popular machine used by jewellers - the larger tip sizes LM118 allows small scale melt ups and also is more suitable to soldering larger items of jewellery. Thicker ring shanks and heads bangles.
The Model 1200 has the largest tips which will allow larger melts ups - this machines is used in the larger jewellery workshops and can be used with a sencond-man operating kit where both operators can use a number LM118 tip to solder.
Depending on the model, it can support from one to four users simultaneously using multi-torch setups.
The Model 500 LM135 is a single-operator machine only. The largest tip size on this is the LM120 No20 tip.
The Model 800 LM136 can be used as a single-operator machine with the maximum tip size of LM118.
The Model 800 LM136 can also be used with 2 operators sitting side by side using a maximum tip size of LM120 on each torch. You would need to purchase a second-man operator kit LM084 to convert the LM136-800 for 2 operators.
The Model 1200 LM137 can be used as a single-operator machine with the maximum tip size of LM117.
Also, it can be used with 2 operators using LM118 maximum tip size oer torch, sitting side by side with the addition of the second-man operator kit LM084-1200
It does state the Model 1200 can operate up to 4 operators at the same time; however, you are very limited by the layout using 4 people in close proximity. Personally, I never recommend this for modern workshop layouts.
It is excellent for micro-welding dental appliances like orthodontics, partial dentures, and crowns precisely.
We recommend you machine is serviced every 2 years or 4000 working hours, whichever comes first.
In the UK we can service the machines at our workshop in Birmingham. B18 5AU where we have a fully fitted service department. this is for the UK market only.
If you are outside the UK we do sell full service kits - these have all the components you need to do a full service on your machine.
Please see service instructions to make sure you feel safe and capable of servicing your machine.
The main cell is found on the top of the Aquaflame where there is a grey plastic cap, which is where the mix of Potassium hydroxide & distilled or deionised water goes. Potassium hydroxide is also called caustic potash or goes by it chemcial formula KoH.
The water/electrolyte ratio is best measured by weight to give a more accurate filling mix. The potassium hydroxide needs to be at least 90% laboratory-grade purity. Potassium Hydroxide is a very strong alkalied so caution when handling this chemical is required.
Potassium hydroxide can only be shipped on the mainland UK.
Potassium hydroxide is only added when a new machine is purchased and when a service has been completed.
You only need to top up with deionised or distilled water in all other cases.
The quantity needed per machine is as follows.
LM135 - Model 500 = 300gms
LM136 - Model 800 = 600gms
LM137 - modle 1200 = 1200gms.
Every commercial machine includes a comprehensive 1-year manufacturer warranty covering parts and labor.
